Who We Serve

Puerto Ricans Affected by Hunger
ACOMERPR has distributed food throughout the island, while establishing community gardens in 5 municipalities: Mayagüez, San Juan, Ponce, Loiza, and Camuy:
To date, we have served thousands of Puerto Ricans with food distributions, community gardens, and research and education initiatives. The programs we conduct serve community members and marginalized communities in these regions to promote economic development and access to affordable, nutritious food. The populations of these communities are often impoverished. Our organization has increasingly grown to serve elderly populations, as they suffer from severe food insecurity when compared to the national average.
“ACOMERPR has impacted our community in an incredible way, creating awareness in our community about our diet, the need to harvest our own food and fostering a sense of belonging in our community.”
Keishla M. Soto Estremera, Camuy
